1. Misto's Financial
mistosfinancial.comLocal-first, zero-knowledge backups, one calm note a day.
Best for: People who want the strongest structural answer — data that isn't on a company server at all — without self-hosting.
Misto's is built so there's nothing to sell: your ledger lives on your device, works fully offline, and any backup is encrypted on-device with a key derived from your password that never reaches us. Bank sync, if you turn it on, opens your bank's own sign-in page inside the app and reads transactions locally — no Plaid or other aggregator. Statement import (CSV, PDF, OFX, QFX, QIF) is parsed on your device and free on every platform.
The business model is the boring one: a free-forever core and a one-time $49 Premium unlock for read-only bank sync, multi-device sync, the full AI suite, and a household plan. No subscription, no ads, no trackers. Misto AI's morning observation is computed on your device; when you ask for cloud help, only derived totals leave, never raw transactions or merchant names.
Where it falls short: it's built by one person, it doesn't sync investment holdings, it isn't open-source, and on-device bank sync depends on how your bank's website behaves. We'd rather you know that going in.

- Statement import in five formats, parsed locally
Where it falls short
- Solo developer
- No investment-holdings sync
- Not open-source
Pricing: Free forever core; Misto's Premium is a one-time $49 unlock. No subscription.
